1826 ~1883
             aughter of Mataio Kekuanaoa & Princess Pauahi I, Half sister of Kamehameha IV & V, great grandaughter of Kamehameha I. Princess Ruth was considered the richest woman in the islands because of the inherited estate of Kamehameha V. Princess Ruth married Leleiohoku and had two sons, one died as an infant and another son, William Pitt died at 16 years of age. Princess Ruth later adopted a brother of King David Kalakaua naming him William Pitt Leleiohoku, unfortunately, Leleiohoku died of pneumonia while visiting in California on April 9, 1877. Princess Ruth left the bulk of her estate to her cousin, the last direct descendant of Kamehameha I, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop
This School was located on the former palace grounds known as Keoua Hale built by Princess Ruth. A representation of the Kamehameha royal line built during the time when Kalakaua was King and in the process of building the grand Iolani Palace. The palace was passed on to Princess Bernice Pauahi when Ruth died and was used as her residence for some time. Later it was sold to the Board of Education and was reconstructed into the now Central Intermediate School.
